I sing, play acoustic & electric guitars, keyboards and harmonica with full orchestra backgrounds and also "un-plugged". Many of these backgrounds I created myself (played and recorded all the parts).
I also take my wireless mike into the audience, with pre-recorded music playing, and sometimes get others to sing with me... ok, very often get others to sing!
In restaurants, nightclubs and resorts where my followers frequent, you'll be likely to hear some guest singers. You may be surprised by some of the talent sitting out there. Some look at this and say "It's karaoke!" No, it's The Bob Mel Show! There are no words on a screen and my singers know the words and songs. I like to think of it more like the old RatPack; where Dean had a gig at the Sands and Frank and/or Sammy would just show up and sing with him. Ah, those were the days!
But, I can't leave out the most important part... You see, singing well and playing well isn't enough! Just sounding good isn't enough.
It's reading the audience
Knowing what to play and do and what to play and do next
It's the interaction with the audience
It's the thing that you've got to experience for yourself
And I hope you will!
